Ray Cort Park

The restoration and enhancement of Mitchell Branch along the RCP will reduce pollution impacts due to stormwater run-off and associated sedimentation.  Riparian reforestation will aid in maintaining streambank stabilization during extreme weather events and will aid in maintaining surface water temperatures.  The construction of riffles and pools in-channel will help maintain levels of dissolved oxygen within restored reaches. Restoration of stream corridors will provide important habitat during fish and wildlife migrations.  The aesthetic of RCP and Mitchell Branch will be restored to a more natural condition and will provide the first public stream restoration and raingarden project in downtown Burnsville. In addition, the park will undergo a major renovation that will include new park elements to further enhance the condition of the park.
